Thanks for covering this story. After reading your article and then attending 8:00am mass today, it was said (near the end of mass by the parish pastor at Nativity) that the Archdiocese will hear no appeal to the winning appeal from St. John's in Wallingford, and the decision by the Blue Ribbon Commission was final. It will be a shame that an 100 year old tradition in the Borough of Media will end without a chance for Nativity BVM to make their case. I would love to see a follow-up article. Thanks for listening.

I guess it might be a matter of semantics, but St. John's and BVM were consolidating. BOTH schools were closing, and a new school was opening at BVM's location. St. John's appealed based on their facility (in their opinion) was better suited to host the new school in terms of the physical plant, bus access, etc. So to say St. John's was closing, and now isn't, and BVM wasn't and now is, isn't technically accurate. They're both still closing.
Nativity BVM DID have an opportunity to state its case. If I am correct, BVM officials appeared at the appeal WITH St. John officials. Can anyone confirm this? The previous post is correct: both schools are mandated to close. Each school ceases to exist. A new, merged school is now born. The only change that Friday brought was the location of the school.
yes Nativity folks were at the appeal; the principal, Father Bell and the business manager.
