You reap what you sow.
As long as the chief keeps mouthing off like its the Wild West, and reinforcing all the negative stereotypes, then things are going to get progressively worse.
Chitwood needs to stay out of the newspapers and tone down the rhetoric.

Surely you jest, Jake... If I read it correctly, you're blaming Mr. Chitwood for these thugs carrying deadly weapons into their school? Which implies you think that if Mr. Chitwood stays out of the press everything will get better, the guns and blades and tasers will not be carried, the bad guys will become good guys... You can't be serious, can you? Perhaps you also think that if all the police officers in Chester stay in the station instead of patrolling the streets the murders will stop... Yeah, that's the ticket!

Jake - I agree that Mike "Wyatt Earp" Chitwood need's to give it a rest. This isn't the WWF. But c'mon Jake, you can't be serious.
It's the irresponsible parents who are to blame. How did these kids know where their parents and grandparents kept their guns, why weren't these guns locked up, and why weren't they reported missing?

You reap what you sow (Part II).
Single parent households are the inevitable result of our ill-conceived welfare system. Likewise, our poor economy is the result of liberal grandstanding and a President too naive to know better.
All this can be fixed in November 2012.
In the meantime, the best temporary relief is for Chief Chitwood to refrain from aggravating a bad situation.

Jake - What in the world does this have to do with the issue at hand? If you're insinuating that weapons being brought into the school are the result of a liberal culture, I think you're barking up the wrong tree. Most liberals that I know are not gun owners. I'd bet my bottom dollar that the original owners of these weapons are your political brothers.

Bob, I agree with Jake 100%. The fact that you can't get it makes me sad!

Danny - Chitwood is responsible for these kids bringing guns to school? You agree with Jake on this?

Danny - I have just read the story again. It say's "Both guns were stolen; one from his brother-in-law on Halloween and one from his grandfather on Thanksgiving,” Chitwood said. “The family did not know the guns were stolen. The two sets of parents were extremely concerned with their children and what they did." The problem here? The GUN OWNERS! Get it? Don't blame Chitwood. Don't blame liberals! Conservatives always talk about people accepting responsibility for their actions, or lack there of. Why should gun owners get a pass? Because you're one of them?

Bob,
If you re-read the article you also saw that the perpetrator was mentally disturbed.

As in the case with Representative Giffords, no law or regulation or big government bureaucracy that you so favor, can prevent a sick individual from doing wrong.

Of course that didn't stop liberals from trying to blame Sarah Palin for that craziness, and didn't stop Obama from making his disingenuous call for civility.

Chief Chitwood's responsibility is to rein in his ego and stop giving notoriety to the mentally disturbed and all the rest of the petty criminals.

Jake - That was ONE of the perps. There were two. Regardless, how does that excuse the reckless behavior of the gun owners? Two guns are missing. One at Halloween and one at Thanksgiving Also a taser gun. The owners either don't realize that the weapons are missing (hard to believe, but possible) or they know but fail to report the missing weapons to the proper authorities. This is a clear case of irresponsible gun ownership, but you would prefer to make it a clash of ideology. Just like the Penn State incident. You tried to pin the blame on a permissive college culture at Penn State, all the while ignoring the fact that Sandusky, Paterno, the judge who let Sandusky walk without secured bail, and the DA who wanted more allegations of molestation before going after Sandusky were all Republicans. It doesn't work that way Jake.

So let's all go skipping off to Bob-world:
Let's take the kids away from their "irresponsible parents".
Let's take the guns away from their "reckless" owners.
Let's put the government in charge of even more of our lives.
After all, they've been so successful with everything they've touched like Solyndra, Obamacare, Fast and Furious, welfare, etc.
And while we're at it, we can drive over to the nearest college campus to get our daily dose of morality and freedom.
Yeah, gotta love Bob-world. What a great alternative to reality.

Jake - You're suffering from Chicken Little syndrome. Thanks for the nonspecific rant that has nothing to do with guns being found on students in UD. I'll give this one more shot. See if you can answer these easy questions withot spewing meaningles rhetoric. Is a gun owner supposed to be responsible for the safe keeping of his or her own guns? If you realize that your gun is stolen should you report it to the police?

Do you really expect me to know where they all are, at the same time?
I would only know they were gone if someone told me, I don't look at them all everyday!

Danny - This is a perfect example of what happens when you don't keep track of your weapons. I would assume that if you had more than one gun, the guns that you don't have on your person are under lock and key. Particularly if you have children in the house or young adults that enjoy a drink now and then. If not, I'd suggest you reconsider.
I do support the second amendment, but I don't support irresponsible gun ownership. It was fortunate that this didn't end up like the Sean O'Neill case. Thinking it can never happen to you is playing with fire.

A rash of burglaries reported in Upper Darby.
Obviously, Chief Chitwood's high-profile policing isn't working. Why not try a little discretion?
