Cain Accused of Being Accused

Herman Cain and his campaign is denying/dodging allegations that he was accused of sexual harassment back in the mid 1990s when he was president of the National Restaurant Association.

According to a report in Politico, the organization settled two complaints with two separate women that Cain spoke crudely to them in a sexual way.

So here we go.

It is an interesting sort of allegation that asks if you have ever been "accused" of something, but it is damning in it own right. If Herman Cain could say, "Yes, almost 15 years I was accused, falsely," he should say so. Running for president, he certainly should have been prepared for the question and ready to answer it. And he obviously wasn't.

If the NRA and/or its insurance carrier paid these women to go away, the Cain campaign is probably finished. But the whole thing smacks of another low-tech lynching of a successful black man who dared to veer from liberal orthodoxy.

It should remind everyone that if you're a white, liberal president, you can be a serial adulterer, harass women for sex and be caught having sex with a White House intern, lie about it all under oath, and STILL retain the support of the Democratic party.

Republican voters have higher and more demanding standards of behavior of their presidents and presidential candidates.

UPDATE: Cain denies:
"I have never sexually harassed anyone, let's say that. Secondly, I've never sexually harassed anyone, and yes, I was falsely accused while I was at the National Restaurant Association, and I say falsely, because it turned out, after the investigation, to be baseless. The people mentioned in that article were the ones who would be aware of any misdoings, and they have attested to my integrity and my character. It is totally baseless, and totally false, never have I committed any sort of sexual harassment."

What's the over/under on the pubic hair on the Coke can accusation? I'm guessing two days before the attacks escalate. The liberal intelligentsia find no lie too lurid and no hypocrisy too evident to advance their big government agenda.

Thankfully, Clarence Thomas has remained steadfast against that pitiful excuse of a confirmation hearing. He is now generally regarded as a thoughtful and dynamic conservative legal mind.

Jake - Let's not jump the gun here. Who say's the source was the liberal intelligentsia? Seem's as though his Republican opposition would have more of a reason to go after Cain than the liberals. Hell, we'd love to see Cain run against Obama. Sorry buddy, but we don't have a dog in this fight. That being said, you say that the liberal intelligentsia find's no lie to lurid. Are you suggesting this is a lie? Tell you what. If this story proves false, drinks are on me. But if it's true, Jakes buying. Are you in?

Bob,
Happy to buy anytime. I'm in.

The problem isn't the false accusation of a black man. The problem is that the first people to cry racism when anybody says anything critical about Obama, people like the Congressional Black Caucus and the NAACP, are silent with Herman Cain.

Their mission has been redefined as protecting the liberal plantation and black leaders like Herman Cain are ostracized when they dare have a mind of their own.

It's no longer about the "content of their character", but simply about blind allegiance to the big government agenda.

Jake - That's not the point you were making. You were blaming the Liberal intelligentsia for this revelation, and questioning the validity of the story. That being said, I'd be happy to entertain your latest comments. Would you want the NAACP or the Black Caucus to jump to Cain's defense simply because he's black? I think most reasonable thinkers dislike that idea, regardless of whose ox is being gored, and we certainly shouldn't encourage that kind of reaction. Unfortunatly, that's exactly what YOU are doing. Your immediate reaction was to jump to Cain's defense simply because he's a conservative Republican. This is no different than what you accuse the NAACP and the Black caucus of doing. Of course Republicans haven't cornered the market on this kind of behavior. I admit to having been a John Edwards supporter, but my reaction to his indescretion was quite different than your reaction to the Cain charges. I kept quiet until enough information came in to make a call, and then I kicked him, deseverdly so, to the side of the road. I'd suggest you do the same.

Bob,

The liberal intelligentsia are closet racists. Their big government agenda is based on the conceit that the wretched masses need the enlightened elite to make their life decisions for them.

Herman Cain, a passionate and fearless conservative, blows their comfortable, condescending assumptions right out of the water.

Jake - I assume you meant concept, not conceit. Again you deviate from your initial post on this subject. This story could very well have been leaked by Cain's Republican opposition, and yet you still want to make it about the liberal intelligentsia. Why? Anyway, given your Rush Limbaugh type of explanation of how things fall into place, that would make President Obama our # 1 racist in chief. Right? I guess the other side of that would be the Republican dumbing down of leadership by championing people like Cain, Palin, Bachman, and Perry, while conservative talking heads bash intellectuals like Romney and Huntsman, and push for important legislation like making "In God We Trust" the official motto of the US, while rabid conservatives like Coulter claim "our blacks are better than yor blacks".

Conceit, a noun
1. an excessively favorable opinion of one's own ability, importance, wit, etc.
2. a fancy; whim; favorable notion.

Jake - Again you deviate from the discussion. Avoidance? It will be interesting to see what kind of a defense you come up with if it turns out to be a ploy by Cain's Republican opposition.

Jake - I think you're going to be buying the next round. The Cain campaign is blaming Perry for the release of this story.
