White Hats, Black Hats in Green Zone

Ross Douthat says with Green Zone and its "Bush Lied, People Died" meme, once again Hollywood gets the Iraq War wrong. Worse, it inartful and simplicitically partisan.

Looks to me like Douthat is the one who get's it wrong. Cheney and company were looking for an excuse to go into Iraq long before 9/11. Scott Ritter was telling us there were no WMD's. So were Hans Blix and Joe Wilson. The revisionists would have you believe that the inspectors had been booted out of Iraq by Saddam, when in fact they were told to leave before the invasion by the Bush administration. Atomic energy experts were telling the White House that the aluminum centrifuges were not the kind used for WMD. It all adds up. Cheney pushed information that he knew was suspect, just to build a case for war. Rove recently admitted that if they couldn't push the WMD angle, they wouldn't have been able to invade. And I remember your columns. You got it wrong too. As Lewis Black said "I knew they didn't have WMD, and I was just sitting on my sofa"
