Given The Bum's Rush

My print column on the NFL vs Rush Limbaugh is up.

Gil,

What a slick way you got a piece about Rush Limbaugh to mention Obama. What's Obama got to do with any of this? Absolutely nothing. But you still felt the need to write about him in a negative light. That's really sad. Why didn't you compare this situation to the MLB and Marge Schott? Schott was forced out by MLB because she had Nazi memorabilia. Is that worse that the negatives things Rush has said towards the black community? Why didn't you mention the uproar about Rush didn't happen until AFTER several players stated that they would NEVER play in St. Louis if Rush was part of the ownership group. The NFL doesn't want players avoiding a team because of the actions of its owner. Try to print the WHOLE story sometime instead of your narrow-minded version of the events.

Bum's Rush?
More like, Rush is a Bum.

Gil can always be counted upon to defend people like Rush who bad mouth blacks, Muslims, women, gays, etc. and promote negative racial stereotypes. Gil seems all to happy to defend their freedom of (hate) speech. Gil's usually silent when it comes to the rights of those oppressed (unless it's some white male claiming "reverse racism" or discrimination by affirmative action).

Gil, can't print the WHOLE story. That might balance out his lopsided views. Ignorance doesn't like being fed facts.

Is it considered wrong to simply not care about the subject? Honestly, I only care if it was a sale of the Eagles, and after the years of Norman Braman (sp?), I am pleased with the Lurie regime but not to the tune of a Lombardi Trophy. Seeing how the NFL averages at least one arrest a week (See profootballtalk.com's 'days without an arrest' meter), and with conspirators to human and canine murder allowed to return to the playing field (e.g. Ray Lewis, Michael Vick), why should I give a crap who purchases the St. Louis Rams? Why should I care who owns the New York Giants, the Patriots or the Saints? The answer is that I don't and that I don't need to - I'm not a stakeholder, my future isn't shaped by these guys or their teams, they're not elected to serve us or represent us in any fashion.
