Blame It On Rio?

Nah, loss of Olympics for Chicago falls into Obama's lap.

The Times says it raises more doubts about his presidency. Whatever.

I was pushing for Rio - now the sights and scenes between Olympic events will be of topless beaches!

Wasn't it fun watching America's SUPER patriots, Americans for Prosperity, Limbaugh, Beck, Dobbs, Steele, etc., cheer at Chicagos loss? Yea baby!!! These are the true Red Blooded Americans! New Rules for Republicans. It's OK to root against your country, and bash your president, as long as he's a Democrat. Not only is it OK, it's encouraged!

It's one thing to root against your country hosting the Olympics. (It didn't work out very well for Canada with the Montreal games.) It is quite another to root against your country winning a war. Do you not see a difference?

Hey Bob, I cheered for every team playing the US in Men's Basketball in 2004 and 2008 due to my dislike for the stock of millionaire NBA players on the rosters who have done one hell of a job in destroying the quality of the NBA. Does this make me unamerican?

I also cheered on Usain Bolt in the 100m and 200m, I'm sure there were Americans racing against him, should I be ashamed of myself?

Gil - Hosting the Olympics would have been a good thing for Chicago. Lots of jobs, money, and prestige. But lets call it what it is OK? They weren't rooting against our country to host the Olympics. They were rooting against the possibility of our president being successful. Do you not see the difference? As for your poor comparison, I'll say this. The left does not root against our country winning a war. Thats pure BS, and it's an ignorant statement. That insinuates that we root for the deaths of American soldiers, and when you make statements like that, you start to sound like Randal. Or worse, Limbaugh. It's an accusation that I find disgusting and unethical. We may protest going to war, or we may protest our involvement in a war, as we did with Vietnam & Iraq, but we don't root for the other side to win. As any real seasoned veteran will tell you, there are no real winners in a war. And we may protest the lies that certain presidents use to get us into war. Knowing what the left knew at the time, and what the rest of the world knows now, were we wrong to protest our involvment in Vietnam? In Iraq? Would you prefer to ignore history? Would you prefer that those who see wrong just keep their mouths shut? Would you prefer to see your own children go to war based on lies? Yes you would. If the Republicans are in power.

gill, great point. those conservatives that aren't supporting obama and rooting for failure in afghanistan are a disgrace.
most liberals supported the war in afghanistan, because that where bin laden and the taliban were. we didn't like troops being pulled to iraq. this allowed bin laden to escape. the taliban had time to regroup and plan.

A truly inspiring moment by our Olympian first couple:
Michelle and Barry tried to bulldoze the IOC with their celebrity and half-truths, and got quickly and unceremoniously bounced.
Classic Michelle..."Some of my best memories are sitting on my Dad's lap cheering on Olga and Nadia, Carl Lewis, and others, for their brilliance and perfection."
Except that Michelle was twenty years-old when Carl Lewis first competed in the Olympics.
Eeewww!!
Apparently, you could hear the selection committee laughing all the way to Rio.
