Moore Silliness

"Capitalism is evil," says new Michael Moore film.

He's right. The lesser of two.

UPDATE: "Capitalism is an evil, and you cannot regulate evil," the two-hour movie concludes. "You have to eliminate it and replace it with something that is good for all people and that something is democracy."

Of course, this is absurd. The opposite of free market capitalism is not democracy. The opposite of Capitalism is Marxism.

It's been tried as a replacement for capitalism and it has failed in every country in which it has been imposed because it has not been "good" for the people. Standards of living don't rise. Freedom is curtailed. And great Democrats like Hugo Chavez do it all in the name of what is "good" for people.

Moore makes his living in a Democracy that permits him to say any dumb thing he likes and to make millions of dollars doing it. He should be more grateful than he is to our Republic and how first and foremost it attempts to protect individual freedom and opportunity.

Gil - Lets face it. Its hard to take Moore seriously. His staged antics have overshadowed any legitimate arguments that he tries to make.

It doesn't seem too hard for of thousands of American lefists and European film critics.

Does that surprise you? Look how many people take Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck seriously. Lazy minds have a tendency to let other people do their thinking for them.
They head off in a specific direction, and put their minds on cruise control. Show me a devout follower of anyone or anything, and I'll show you a fool.

Bob,
Do you really think "a devout follower of anyone or anything" is "a fool"? That's a pretty faithless and cynical view of humanity.
If you really think that, then you and Ted Kennedy should have a helluva time together in eternity.

Bob:

How many people take our president seriously? Sadly, he has people (his followers) who really think that government will take care of their needs and pay their bills. Are these the followers you speak of? What about followers of atheism, or the Dalai Lama, or eagles/phillies fans, or a follower of an entertainer? What about the "I Pledge" video made for Obama - could these be the people you are referring too? What about people that listen to NPR, or AL Franken (before Air America went broke)?

Bob, is it true that you only appove of followers who think like you?

Your statements are childish and show a level of ingnorance that can only be possessed by a true liberal.

He's certainly helping you make your case.

We are fortunate to have anon-diano regularly prove the converse.
You can be a fool without following anything, except maybe whim and political expedience.

Steve - If I remember right, wasn't Bush a cheerleader? Kind of a funny thing for a guy to do if you ask me.

Bob, anon-iano is far from having free and independent thought which convinces me of one of the following:

1) He keeps a collection of Blue Cheerleading outfits in his closet, complete with "D" on the sweaters. On the fourth of July, he flys a Donkey flag in lieu of the stars and stripes.

2) He resembles a human being from "The Matrix", complete with wires hooked into his brain that transmits thoughts and perceptions. The democratic matrix tells him what to think or say (Or forwards him talking points for every issue out there)

The man references his Donkey playbook right down to lawn maintenance and 'wiping'. If we were to take away his 'binky' would he curl up in the fetal position in a corner muttering "Change, Hope, Change, Hope..."?

Steve - Why do you sound like a school-girl with an unrequited crush (and some pretty creepy dress-up fantasies)?

It sounds like you are the one wired up (to Spencerblog) and get a jolt whenever Bob bests you in a argument. You must be getting a lot of jolts to start picturing him in a a Dem cheerleader outfit. This isn't a fetish site.

It is fairly clear to me who "Anonymous" is, a poster who has been banned from this site in the past but whose anonymous posts I have allowed to slip through more recently.

Anyone have a problem with that?

Anon-iano, I am hoping that DailyKOS or one of your other liberal rags can conjure up some Steve McDonald talking points so you can offer more proper point-by-point responses and criticisms. I'll help with one of them - I'm known to be a quick typer who refuses to proofread for mis-spells (There goes my political career).

Are you referring to fetishes becasue you can't come to terms with the fact that I've hit it dead on when describing you? Are you upset that I'm calling it as I see it? Or have I revealed something personal that wasn't meant to be known?

Gil, upholding the banishment is your call, you can Steinbrenner him (1 year) or Rose him (Life). I don't care. If you choose to allow him re-entry to Spencerblog (Yet again), I personally request the Diano personality bearing the resemblance of three underage sociology students who ask us to buy them products found at the Wine & Spirits shop. Such an entertaining Diano!

Was randal banished as well?

Randal left of his own accord.

OK, that's one vote for I Don't Care.

Gil - I'm not sure if there is a decission to be made. We really don't know if this is Diano. It's just speculation on the part of you and Steve. To censure anything that is posted anonymously that reads as liberal, but to allow anonymous postings that read as conservative seems a bit one sided.
I've recently started posting here again, and I enjoy it. Let's not turn it into a posting pissing match again. It ain't broke. Don't fix it.

Anon-diano pretended to be me on this blog, which naturally made me uncomfortable.
Anon-diano has labeled me a "devout follower" of Gil, suggesting I lack the intellect or will to think for myself, which also made me uncomfortable.
Anon-diano champions the use and application of politically-correct, hate speech statutes, which only require the modest standard of making someone uncomfortable to be enforced. By his own liberal political agenda, anon-diano has made the case to be banned from this site.
Nevertheless, I urge you to allow him to continue to post. Free speech should be particularly protective of extreme or defective points of view, if only to expose their fraudulent shortcomings. Besides, how else are we going to access the DNC talking points?

bob, we've been through the process of how diano constructs his posts in the past, don't be so naive. Do a little research on his prior posts and you'll see strong similarities.

We need to find Diano's polar opposite and have her/him post RNC talking points to the blog - the battles between the two extremists would be EPIC.

jake, I believe anon-iano also tried to post as me in the past, although he'll clearly deny it.

Since this blog started, I know of only two individuals who have used href codes to create highlighted links in the comments section - Diano and myself. 'Someone' once decided to get creative - inserting a href code into the name field with a link to my blogger identity, and typing 'Steve McDonald' into the display so it looks like I am posting - blue highlighted name and all. Gee, I wonder who it could have been...

Bob,
Your thought processes are breaking down.
First, you assert that "devoutly following anyone or anything...is foolish."
Now you respond to my defense of free speech by saying I "should keep it to myself." Is the sad irony of that retort lost on you?
Also lost on you was my modest attempt at sarcasm. As a writing form you frequently employ, I would hope you'd recognize and enjoy its further application.
My use of "uncomfortable" was to reference the subjective threshold liberals identify as justification for their hate speech statutes.
Sorry to have been too subtle for you.

Anonymous Bob said...

Jake - Sarcasm? That's what that was? Oh well. At least you admit that it was just an attempt.

As far as free speech goes, I'm free to tell you that you shouldn't accuse someone of something unless you can prove it.
But then false accusations seem to be the order of the day for Obama foes.
