Locking 'Em Up in Penn Delco

My column on a bit of custodial buffoonery, and administrative ass-covering in Penn Delco is up.

At least new Superintendent George Steinhoff SAID the right things.

Especially disappointing was the reaction of schools maintenance director Tom Calvecchio, who refused to admit his employees had done anything wrong.

There may be more to this story. We'll see.

I'm not a doctor or anything but can't you just hop the less than 4 ft fence down at Penn Delco's track?

Not that the janitor's laziness wasn't ridiculously uncalled for but this was hardly false imprisonment.

You could if it was 4 feet. But the fence in question is is 8 feet high.

Try hopping that, doc.

I see many elderly people walking the track. I don't think they could or should have to climb a fence to get out.

I'm not surprised nor shocked that there was another Penn Delco debacle.

The reaction of the department head doesn't surprise me. There are many, many dedicated employees at PD, but the department heads all seem to be afflicted with unbelievable case of arrogance and can-do-no-wrong. We've had issues with two other (not this one) department heads in which they were clearly wrong (or at least partially wrong) and they could not accept that they were anything less than Jesus reincarnate himself. We had to stand up to them for those bullies to back down, and things have improved somewhat because they know we won't just roll over for them. We shouldn't have to do that.
