The New Patriots

David Harsanyi has an excellent question for Obama worshippers:

Is dissent still patriotic?

Money Q:

"Liberals, rightly, recoil at the prospect of conservatives dictating which morals they should live by. Obama, though, has spent the past year preaching his own brand of morality -- with a list of demands. Everyone, you see, "must" sacrifice. As Michelle Obama recently explained, "Barack Obama will require you to work. . Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed."

Those of us who refuse to buy left-wing orthodoxy will remain "uninformed" and, inevitably, "selfish."

He forgot racist, sexist and homophobic.

I still believe this is a free country worth preserving. Do I think it's wildly prosperous? Not right now. Dissent is still patriotic, although we've already seen what Limbaughs idea of dissent is. A desire to see Obama fail. If dissent is based on facts, or true beliefs, thats fine. If dissent is based on lies or the spinning of truth, thats a cancer.

And "cancers" should be cut out.

I mean, that's what you do with "cancers," isn't it?

Don't worry, Bob. The Dems have an answer for that too. It's called bringing back the "Fairness Doctrine." Otherwise known as the "Hush Rush" bill.

More of the Democrats regulating free speech and abridging the First Amendment

The airwaves are a public resource. The government and the public has an interest in letting multiple viewpoints get expressed, rather than just conservative propaganda and disinformation.

I know that you and r are against making any sacrifices yourselves. You rather have soldiers making sacrifices so you can promote and anti-American agenda.

Gil - Depends on what kind of cancer it is. Limbaugh and Hannity are your cancers. We have our own. Michael Moore for one. It harms the liberal cause when Moore spins, stages, and exagerates the truth. I see him for the grandstanding, self serving person that he is. Same with James Carvel. What good does it do for your party, when Limbaugh says he wants to see Obama fail? Or when a Drudge is so desperate to find fault in Obama, that he will post a story, before the facts come out? As far as I'm concerned, let them speak. They are doing more to discredit the conservative movement than I could ever do. You are the one that should be concerned. This is a cancer that eats away at legitimate conservative values, and divides poeple. How many conservatives are going to be embarassed by Limbaugh's statement? Are you?

What the hell is this even about? People have the right to choose what they want to listen to. If they want to listen to Rush, great. If the liberals could actually put together a radio program people wanted to listen to, they would not be talking about "equal representation" on the airwaves. Air America was created and failed because NO ONE WANTED TO LISTEN TO IT.

Anonymous-
1) Air America is still on the air.
2) Conservative radio deals in sensationalism devoid of reality and caters to the fears of a xenophobic section of the population. It's a lot more entertaining than sensible discussion of the issues.
3) Limbaugh becomes more irrelevant every day. He's started doing interviews to raise his profile in the wake of the GOP's devastating losses.
