Da' Birds: Too Little, Too Late?

Go figure. But reports of Donovan McNabb's death were greatly exaggerated.

One good game against a crappy team does not a good quarterback McNabb make.
Who saw my Sound Off about McNabb, Reid and the Eagles the other day? I couldn’t believe the DT actually printed my “Rush was soooo right” tag. Lol… The censoring-abusive Lib who usually handles Sound Offs musta been off that day.

When randal's biggest points about a football game are that "Rus was soooo right", you know he's doing nothing more than watching the highlights on NBC10 to that handsome John Clark.

For anyone who watches football on this blog (all 1 of you) - here's the deal - McNabb has been amazing in his time since 1999, but it's time to make a change and allow youth to take its course. They've been keeping Kevin Kolb in training for two seasons, 2009 should be his opportunity to show his abilities - he should know the offense, I don't buy into his performance at Baltimore in such an awkward situation.

We need a major overhaul on the offensive line; almost every position needs addressing - two OT's aging and in need of replacement, one terrible guard, one guard injured (physically and mentally) to the point where he may never play again, and a center who should have been replaced a year ago. I expect both of those 1st round picks to be dedicated to the OL.

TE - we needed a TE last year, and the year before, and the year before. LJ's gone (Praise the Lord). Draft a big TE who can block and catch now and then (e.g. Whitten wasn't a top pick, look how he works out).

WR - Could it be that we see both Greg Lewis AND Reggie Brown out at the end of the season? I could only wish for such a miracle...

RB - We need a big back, that was supposed to have been Tony Hunt, but obviously failed. Draft Draft Draft again

DL - People say they need another DE, but I'm ok with the group. Victor Abiamiri is coming into his own and may fill that role we desire.

LB - just let 'em grow

Secondary - Draft Safeties. Dawk has been legendary, but who takes his place? Quentin Demps? This could also be a 1st round pick.

Coaching - Keep Reid - HOWEVER, he should in no way have any management of player personnel. Translation - his drafts have been terrible, bad since they dumped Tom Modrak many moons ago. Strip the title and give it to someone who can truly build a championship-caliber team.

Free Agency is NEVER the answer in the NFL. Overpaid vets cause animosity and drama in the locker room (e.g. Lito Sheppard, TO). True championships can be won on Draft day. I say we're in for a bad 2009 until the 2009 and 2010 draft picks settle in and do their part.

Steve McDonald for General Manager!
