A NRA Mole at Ceasefire?
Read this awesome story about a National Rifle Association mole who infiltrates a Pennsylvania gun control organization and gets elected to their board.
It begins:
"Mary McFate was the kind of volunteer the gun-control movement in Pennsylvania prized. By all accounts, she was dedicated and diligent, humble enough to stuff envelopes yet bold enough to lobby U.S. senators.
"Now it seems that the CeaseFire PA board member may have been more versatile than anyone could have imagined. According to Mother Jones magazine, she was a spy for the National Rifle Association.
Mother Jones reported that McFate was in fact Mary Lou "Sapone, who made headlines in the 1990 when it was revealed that she had been hired by a surgical-equipment company to infiltrate the animal-rights movement.
"As McFate, the magazine reported, Sapone covertly infiltrated gun-control groups for more than a decade and received payment from private security firms and the NRA."
Even better are the quotes from Ceasefire and their supporters.
"If I wasn't 63 years old and seen a lot in my life, I would have been shocked," said (CeasefirePA. prez Phil) Goldsmith, a veteran of city politics as managing director to Mayor John F. Street.
(But since he was around one of the more corrupt city adminstrations in American history, he's not.)
"It's surprising that the NRA had nothing better to do but put a mole into an organization such as CeaseFire PA," said City Councilwoman Donna Reed Miller... "It must mean they're afraid of something."
(Yeah, of having their guns taken away.)
"She must be very good at what she does, because a whole bunch of very smart people were completely hoodwinked by this," said Diane Edbril, CeaseFire PA's executive director between 2004 and 2007.
(Or not so very smart people... but then...)
"We thought she was sort of a flake and not so bright, but hardworking and ready to show up for anything," (Former CeasefireNJ director) Bryan Miller said.

Come on Gil. You're not really expecting anyone to buy that comparison. The gun control people and the KKK? A hate group vs. a group thats tired of seeing kids murdering each other? I know your theory on how if we were all armed, we would be better off. That might work in Fargo, but you know damn well it won't work in Phila. Do you condone this behavior? It just proves how paranoid these gun nuts really are, and if you ask me, paranoia and guns are not a good mix.
That's why no one asks gun-fearing cowards what you think, BB, other than fellow Libs in the Press lending undue exposure to the small but vocal gun grabbers.

RR alone is a good reason for gun control. Seriously, after the comments he's made, one has to question his mental stability. Another example from personal experience. Recently a fellow employee was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife. Everyone at work has been aware of this guys paranoia for years, but this time it came to a head. The police raided his house and confiscated 8 semi-automatic weapons. How many others are out there like that? I'm not anti gun. I believe that any homeowner should be allowed to have protection, and the best form is a shotgun. But the NRA is an organization that would allow homeowners to own heat seeking missles if they could get away with it. Bottom line- the only peole that should have semi-auto and automatic weapons are police and military. Why would any civilian need an assault weapon? And yet this is what this organization has come to stand for.
I agree with you Dave. I think this woman is a disgrace, and if this is what the NRA is up to, they should be ashamed. No wonder Bush Sr. discontinued his membership.

But it is not just the few million members of the NRA who oppose gun grabbing, as the grabbers would have us believe -noooo, not by a longshot- but hundreds of millions of law abiding, Constitution-loving Americans.
Seeing how Liberalism is seen by many to be a mental illness, perhaps it best that we don’t let those overly emotional, unstable folks have guns. I'd go along with the gun ownership requirements you laid out. That sounds reasonable enough. But I also know that you irrationally fear guns and want to grab every gun. And that's not reasonable. So this is just slipery slope for you and not a genine sentiment. Thus, you are a liar and the rest of us don't really care what you think about gun ownership, DDD.

Dave, you and I both say we dont want to take guns from people, and Im sure we both prefer cops to criminals. Matter of fact, most cops that I talk to would love to see assault weapons and hand guns off the street. It would make their job a hell of a lot safer, and easier. Trust me on this. Im till trying to figure out what Im supposed to apologize for. RR has shown his disrespect for the military and their families.

Like Cindy Sheehan, Mary Tillman has publicly denounced the use of US troops in Iraq, and accused the Bush administration of misusing her sons death for propaganda. Does RR want to spit in her face too? Would he call Pat Tillman a traitor for speaking out against Bush's invasion and occupation of Iraq?
Apparently Cease Fire PA doesn't mind Mary being a member. Why? Well I just got the text below from their web site.

Yeah, umm, somehow I don’t think The People like LibDems ignoring their will and doing whatever they want… blocking debate and vote on drilling… obstructing efforts to get things like Gay Marriage and Affirmative Action on referendums… inflicting their ill-timed and expensive non-solutions for energy and environment which will only further cripple our economy… Stuff like that. Witness the Lib Congress 9% (!) approval rating –much lower than even unpopular Bush.
Besides, the signs that Libism is sinking are all over the place.
