Gil, thanks for the column. I agree with portions of it. I think Jackson is insanely jealous of Obamas success, and angry over his departure from the blame game. I've always felt that those who carry a burden of personal responsibility for the condition of minorities in this country, either have contributed in some form or another, to holding minorities back, or they suffer from low self esteme. I wonder which one of these (maybe both) apply to Michael Moore and Father Pfledger. Two people who seem to hate the fact that they were born white. Bottom line, you treat people the way you want to be treated, you have nothing to feel guilty about.
As for the authors critisim of Obama being more cultural rather than political, and her comparison of Obama as a flip flopper, and McCain simply as a man of character, I would have to disagree. Do we realy want someone in the White House who doesn't have the ability to change his mind? Is that a weakness? In my opinion, a person who always has to be right, or one who refuses to change course, even when proven wrong, is the weak one. W comes to mind. And lets be honest here. Both of these men are politicians, and both will deviate from their positions to win votes. On the character issue. Was McCains involvment with Keating a sign of good character? And of course, all one has to do is look back to the 2000 primaries. McCains statement about his own actions concerning the S. Carolina flag issue as a-"sacrifice of principle for personal ambition."
Hmmm. That doesn't sound like an example of great character to me.
Gene Lyons wrote a column earlier this year about McCains MO. Screw up, apologize profusely, and they will love you and forgive you. McCain. The master of the humble apology. And then there was McCains walk through the market place in Baghdad to prove that people can "walk freely". A dog and Pony show. Also his statement that Gen. Petreaus drove about Baghdad in an unarmored Humvee. Oh-he misspoke! Again, less than honest. Are we to simply ignore these actions, and not question McCains character? Or will we be considered un-American if we question the character of one who is considered by many to be a war hero?
It is for your anti-America statements that your are considered un-American, BB.

I may not be as articulate as Mr. Steele but I've been saying the same thing for years about the race leveragists. It is well time to simply tell them a dismissive No.

1999- said he wwas pro life but would not support overturning Roe vs. Wade
Opposed torture, but caved to White house demands.
Trashed Bush in 2000 for accepting contributions from the Wyly brothers, but now looks for their support.
Called Falwell an agent of intollerance, but then spoke at BJ University.
Wont support his own campaign finance legislation.
Was the author just not aware of these things, or was the omission intentional?

Well, that explains it. He didn't have his little yapping lap dog, Leiberman, to whisper corrections into is ear. And McCain keeps saying "I'd rather lose an election than lose a war." But didn't Gill recently say we've already won the war? But in reality it's an occupation, and can you win an occupation?

So Jesse doesn’t really hate Obama. He just thinks O isn’t black militant enough. But he’ll still blindly vote for his black brotha, just as 99% of other black racists will.
