Good column, G. But as usual you didn’t go quite far enough to indict the misguided Libism that has led us to this misplaced sympathies place.
Here’s betting that within ten years, pedophilia (-sounds so nice, doesn’t it?) will receive the Lib PC makeover and be included under the “sexual orientation” protection clause. Just as Lib advocates endeavored to get gay changed from being designated as a mental illness to a celebrated, “perfectly normal” lifestyle.
Misplaced sympathies of Modern Liberalism has taken a very real toll on our society, while making criminals out of decent folks and anyone who opposes this backwards Lib crap.
Isn/t it odd that a crime is different depending on who it is committed against.
If you kill a white man because you hate priveleged people, it's not a "hate crime."
If you kill a black man because you hate minorities, that is a hate crime.
I'm not advocating hate against anyone. But, why is society more upset with oe man's murder over another's?
That is precisely the selective sympathies of the Liberal engineered Racial Double Standard that makes “Hate Crime Laws” inequitable in both their conception as well as their application, Anon. And, as with every other poorly conceived and misguided Lib initiative, it has backfired and actually caused more harm due to the racial animosity it has created. Thus perpetuating the cycle.
See, all that feelings-based Libism isn’t all just fun and games, it comes with very real and serious costs.
All Liberal initiatives based on emotion –in this instance, White Guilt- are utter crap and should be abolished.
To make things truly equal, ALL crimes that cross racial lines should be prosecuted as “Hate Crimes”. Period. Since criminals actively select their prey (and blacks select white prey at something like 200 times the rate that whites commit crimes against blacks)- this would be a fair and reasonable resolution. But the Apologist Libs who institute this sort of crap don’t want to talk about that. They see no need for “equality” in applying the Hate Crimes statute. They’re atoning for our racial past and if it leads to a little injustice for whites, well, they see that as a justifiable cost of making good on whitey being mean to blacks so long ago.
