Addiction, Disease, and Stealing

Herb Ackley, the husband of the woman who stole more than a half a million dollars from the Ridley school district has been arrested and charged with conspiracy in the theft.

Together they blew the money at casinos, receiving thousands of dollars in freebies and other comps.

At his wife's sentencing, Ackley testified that he had no idea where all the money that they were gambling came from. He is either willfully stupid or lying.

The DAs office thinks it's the latter and hence the charges against him.

At Carol Ackley's sentencing, (she got 4-20 years) Asst. DA Greg Hurchella asked Ackley during all those trips to the casinos "Did you have a good time?"

Ackley said he did.

Throwing herself on the mercy of the court, his wife claimed to be in the grips of a gambling addiction. Her lawyer argued that the casinos were more to blame for the theft than she was.

Judge Jim Nilon disagreed.

For a couple in the grips of a terrible addiction, they sure seemed to be having a lot of fun.

Not anymore.

Addiction is not a “disease”. That is but another Liberal lie. And a “gambling addiction” is a stretch even for lying Libs.

Ackley started stealing before her addiction thats exactly what she told the police when she was arrested!!!!!!!! and it wasn,t one time or two or three it was all the time and it would still be going on if she wasn't stopped as for her husband give me a break how many spouses do you know that spend every second together including working, as well as gambling and don't know that their spending more a month than they earned, after you get paid, pay your bills, get food, and buy gas you still have 5,000 a month to play with, I guess herb thought she had a wonderful fairy god mother, I guess she did, her name is Ridley high school.
