"You Have to Care about the Lives of People"
Sen. Jay "Rocketman" Rockefeller has apologized to John McCain for comments he made about his military service.
"McCain was a fighter pilot, who dropped laser-guided missiles from 35,000 feet.," He was long gone when they hit. What happened when they (the missiles) get to the ground? He doesn't know. You have to care about the lives of people. McCain never gets into those issues," said Rockefeller, an Obama supporter.
I guess he forgot that McCain's father called in airstrikes on Hanoi when his son was a POW there. Or perhaps Rocky thought McCain Sr. didn't know what bombs do when they hit either.
In any case, Rockefeller decided to apologize.
"I made an inaccurate and wrong analogy, and I have extended my sincere apology to him," Rockefeller said in a statement. "While we differ a great deal on policy issues, I profoundly respect and appreciate his dedication to our country, and I regret my very poor choice of words."
If only John Kerry had had the sense to apologize to all the soldiers he slandered during the Vietnam war, calling them war criminals and rapists we might never have been a group called the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

It’s funny how the LibDems have been forced to tiptoe around sounding anti-military and anti-American just because it’s election season. It’s like PC for Libs! Lol…
They coulda used somea this self-imposed civility and censorship all along.

By implication he called them ALL rapists and war criminals.
If you think relaying the lies of others makes Kerry less culpable, you're nuts.
Soldiers like Al Hubbard, co-founder of Vietnam Veterans Against the War, lied promiscuously about his record and what he did in Vietnam.
Dozens of others in the Winter Soldier movement were found to have lied about their service as well and Kerry either bought it all or cynically passed along their stories because they fit with the anti-war and anti-military narrative of the time.
Either way, he is reponsible for what he testified to. And as I said before, if he had later in his career apologized for being part of the Winter Soldier sham and apologized to the vets he slandered with them, he might be president today.
