More With Cliff Wilson

Good visit with Delco Democratic leader Cliff Wilson yesterday. My print column on Delco's lovable long-time loser can be found here.

A few things I left out.

Cliff said he thought an Obama-Bob Casey Jr. ticket would rock, except that they would be vulnerable to the charge of too much inexperience. Casey has only been a senator for two years. So he figures Obama will pick a female governor to run with.

That, of course, assumes Obama wins the nomination, which he will.

If the super delegates take it away from him and give it to Hillary at the convention, all hell will break loose. Obama is winning the black vote 92 to 8. If the nomination is handed to Hillary, a serious percentage of that vote will stay home come November. The Dems can't risk it. (That's what I say, not Cliff.)

Cliff said that McCain was the best candidate the Republicans could have nominated, in so far as he has the best chance of winning the White House in this environment.

Given that the last two standing Dems are both very flawed candidates, McCain has a real shot.

Cliff said it's a shame Chester's soccer stadium isn't up and built yet, Obama could have filled it. True, but then so could Beyonce. I don't see her winning elective office anytime soon.

Cliff also said he hates the primary and electoral college system. He thinks there should be a one-day national primary and easier ballot access for everyone. I don't disagree with him, but I haven't thought enough about it.

We talked about the "race" thing eliptically. I suggested Obama's big problem wasn't that he's black but that he's liberal. The first black person elected president in this country will be a moderate, if not a conservative. Same goes for the first woman.

Cliff suggested the same thing for the first Jew. He compared Lieberman, a very observant Jew to Rendell, who a lot of people don't even know is Jewish. Working against stereotypes works for politicians.

Locally, he said Dems can't run ideologically, but that even admitted liberals can win and stay in office if they provide the kind of constituent service Bryan Lentz and Joe Sestak are providing. I pointed out Greg Vitali has been doing it for years in Havertown.

He said the slate of county council Dems got beat last year because the Republicans were smart, ran new people and joined them at the hip. Besides being outspent, the Dems didn't run as a ticket (curse you, David Landau) and that helped ruined their chances.

As for his predictions: He guessed that Obama would win Delco and Philly but lose the state 53-47. I told him Obama would lose the state by 10.

Final figures: Hillary 55, Obama 45.

UPDATE: The headline on my column says "Wilson Excited..." Cliff Wilson doesn't get excited. He gets mildly and calmly enthused.

Casey's no VP candidate, hell, we don't know if he's going to be a full-term senator when the governorship (His first love) opens up in 2010.

Not being a Rick Santorum backer, I think Santorum clearly out-debated Casey in 2006. Casey took advantage of the Santorum's education controversies.

Besides, if Obama gets the nomination, I think his best bet would be to choose a VP candidate with Executive and/or foreign policy experience (You know, qualifications to run for president that Obama is missing...)

Here's my admission of the week - I would have voted for Bill Richardson if he won the democratic nomination. He had the best background of anyone running for their party's nomination.

Dave, I agree, Richardson's the idea running mate. However, Obama won't reveal anything until Hillary concedes (after Indiana/NC?)

Public funding has been bypassed in primary races, but rarely in the presidential race. In fact, I think that both Kerry and Bush accepted public funding in 2004.

Rick Santorum was a great asset to our state and while in the Senate he was the third ranking member. Having a leadership role in the Senate translates to $$ for our state. Casey then beats him, and what has he done?

Lastly, do you think that the election of a democratic Congress in 2006 has anything to do with the slide in our economy in the past year and a half? There are very interesting articles on this topic. Lastly, since the dems control both chambers of congress, why is their approval rating lower than President Bush's?

Well, in light of the way that blacks have overwhelmingly been playing ugly racial politics with this election, (97% of voting blacks in Philly cast for Obama) it’s hard to deny all that “diversity” of getting everyone involved has degraded the system even more.

Blacks seem to have not gotten the message that racism is wrong. We can blame this on the Apologist Daves for their keeping racial frictions stirred and always focusing on the rare instances of white racism while willfully ignoring the rampant black racism and giving it a pass with the Racial Double Standard. No one has told them it’s wrong; they seem to think that racism is only bad when whites are guilty of it.

Black coaches? You have got to be kidding. Since when is having a cushy coaching job a “right”. Next, let’s talk about the glaring racial disparity in the players ranks of pro sports. We need some white affirmative action to correct the 95% black NBA to make it more reflective of society’s racial make up.

Stop blaming cops for responding to the overwhelming black crime rate. Any law enforcement officer that hasn’t been politically corrected will tell you that profiling is one of their best crime fighting tools.

Why is it "racist" for blacks to vote for a candidate that best understands their problems or made it on his own?

If I used this very same argument to excuse white racism at the polls… well, we all know what you’d have to say about that Hypocrite Apologist Dave.

Show me ONE example of a white player with stats/skills better than a black player that was denied playing because he was white.

What about white kids that have superior grades and test scores being denied admission to college in favor of a black or other minority that has lesser qualifications?

As for black on white crime or white on black crime, do you remember the black outcry over the black whore who lied about the Duke lacrosse players? How does that reaction for a non-crime square with the black predators who killed Sean Conroy in center city. Conroy was white and he was targeted because he was white. Too bad he didn't have a gun, but even sadder that his murder is not being treated as a racially motivated "hate" crime.

Of course blacks target whites for their crime, ya stooge. At a rate of about 50-1 compared to white-on-black. That they rarely get charged with a racially motivated “hate crime” says nothing other than the Racial Double Standard is alive, well, and despicable as ever.

Split number hairs all ya want, Apologist Dave. Blacks have overwhelmingly supported Obama just and only because he and they are both black. Period. That’s racism. They probably also like him because they and he are racists and they liked what they heard out of Rev. Wright. That Swan didn’t get the disgustingly so-called “black vote” was because they saw him as too white, a race traitor, a house n…
But you know all this. Oops, their goes your honesty!

50+ years ago?? Still trying to avenge the distant past, I see. What say we stick to talking about TODAY and the racial injustice shown to whites, including in pro sports.

There are many examples of blacks getting positions over more qualified whites. When the racial roles are reversed, this is rightly called racism. So too is it when blacks benefit.
How come is it that when we’re talking about a job Libs are willing to overlook qualifications in order to insert blacks –oops, I mean, “achieve racial balance”- but when it comes to sports they change their tune to: “Hey, blacks are just better at the game! Let the best man play!” Oh, that’s right, it’s because apologist Libs are really just about putting more blacks anywhere they can. That’s what the coded buzzword “diversity” really means, after all.

If blacks have a problem with being profiled, whether in a store or on the road, their beef is with other blacks that created the very real stereotype.

Oh, and while you will find no racism in my post, yours has dishonest apologist written all over it.

Randal-
"What planet are you on that you think blacks are murdering whites, because they are white?"

I have to agree with Randal on this one David. I witnessed firsthand in 1971 an older friend of mine named Stevie Warrington get shot to death by a black kid named Andre Britt. I heard him say "Die Whitey!" and laughed. Stevie was 15 years old. He was killed for being white. Where I grew up in the "Stonehurst" section of Upper Darby in the sixties and seventies, I as a white kid was subjected daily to attacks by blacks a lot older than me.

In fact, two Catholic nuns were pelted with rocks right down the street (Walnut Park Drive)from my former home to name one of many incidents.

Bottom line? Black people are taught by "society" that whites are evil and have been putting them down. That isn't so in reality. I know many black people who are sucessful and make far more money than I ever will.

Cheers and sorry for the long reply.

Diversity also has value in an academic setting
Though often repeated so as to sound believable, this is nothing more than a Liberal lie. As a matter of scientific fact, recent studies show that all those “benefits of diversity” that apologist Libs are always harping about are utter crap. Libs are lying to us.

Let's keep the discussion in the current century.

Lol… Uh, yeah. I have to remind you of this in nearly every discussion as you ever hang your tired outdated Libism on the distant past which has zero bearing on today.

Nope. Try as you might (and always do) you can’t blame me for black racism. We already concluded here that you Libs and your bitter black friends are the cause for our continued racial strife today. And, yes, many blacks are indeed taught to hate whitey. They learn this in their homes, in HBCUs, and by our Apologist Libbed society that always excuses black failure and tries to pin it on whites, as you have done here.

Nor did I see or hear my parents treat blacks with blahblahweepweep. It’s just that unlike you, I have the benefit of independent thought and have resisted the Lib brainwashing. Also, I have not been PCed into silence from speaking the truth. Nor do I suffer from White Guilt as you do.

Mr. Shields,

David owns his own computer programming company that brings in an estimated 82k a year (highly successful). It operates out of a small apartment building. Must be some sweet location to just get an apartment. It's interesting he touts experience in military projects though; is he profiting off of George Bush's war? David being hypocritical? That would be blasphemy!

The whole gist of the story is he builds websites just like millions of high school aged students yet touts himself as the second coming.

Don't worry about him knocking where/when you graduated school. David thinks graduating from Cornell undergrad is amazing, yet a Wharton MBA is what any joker can get. Actually, he forgot a Wharton MBA is tougher. Then again, when we talk about just getting an equivalent degree from any school; I think getting into Flagler, Del Val College, etc for an undergrad is easier than any Masters program.

Then again, David DID get his Masters from Villanova (the dumb stepchild school of Penn). (Did I just say that out loud?)

Remember though, this is the guy who puts into his profile "graduates from Haverford High School with honors." He doesn't try to pad his resume at all like he accuses you of now does he? I'm sorry, I don't know anyone who says they graduated HS with honors. Is that even possible? Maybe at Haverford it is as it's the dumb stepchild public school of Radnor, Strath Haven, and Penncrest.

He also thinks it's cute to put a Superman logo as his websites design.

David also likes long walks in the park with Steve.

Please provide some studies that show diversity has no benefits. One proven benefit is that it reduces (though clearly doesn't eliminate) discrimination and racism by allowing people to see directly how false stereotypes are.

Nope. Find your own studies. I told you I don’t play the game where I do all the work just for you to then dismiss it as meaningless when you lose. As I recall, Gil posted a thread about this some month back. Go find it yourself.
As I also recall, the study was denounced and poo-pooed by Libs only because they didn’t like hearing what it said because it didn’t go along with the lying Lib line about their beloved diversity. And the study’s conductor was bludgeoned to death with the PC club for revealing this truth that Libs didn’t want anyone to hear.
Nothing “proven” about it, the benefits to “rich diversity” are a Liberal lie. All inserting blacks does is help blacks. Period. Usually at the expense of whites.
White racism is not born from “ignorance” as you Libs like to lie but rather from experience and familiarity.
Stereotypes are based in truth. Sure there are many exceptions, but the stereotype is the rule. It’s not my fault. Talk to your black criminal friends about it.

The usefulness of the past century is as an example of how far we (but not) have progressed.

You are hung up on the past. Always. Evolve, man, this is 2008. I mean, didn’t you introduce muskets to our gun debate?! Lol…
You apologists and bitter blacks ignore all progress and chose instead to create new “rights” that they are denied to be angry about. For instance, there is no such thing as a “need for economic justice” today. It’s been achieved.

Things like separate water fountains and lunch counters have been eliminated

You’re still whining about water fountains? I never saw one in real life, did you? Hey, were ya ever able to find any of them nasty old “straights only” water fountains? (hehe)

to the point where the young generation can barely believe such behavior existed so recently.

Yes, you Libs like to brainwash others’ children to your way of thinking without providing anything in the way of balance. It is underhanded and despicable. This is why college kids all believe the Libs lies of “diversity” etc, and are voting for the Black Militant Candidate. They don’t even believe in black racism because you Lying Libs have convinced them that only mean old whitey can be racist and blacks are always, always the victims. No, the end does not justify the filthy lying Lib means. Virtually never does it.

However, while discrimination has been removed from the public square, it still goes on in the board rooms and back rooms.

Please provide specific examples of this, including names, dates and times. Otherwise we shall dismiss this also as just yet more of your hollow Apologist Lib crap.

I CAN blame you for creating a racial atmosphere that would lead blacks to believe that most whites are like you.

No you can’t. I didn’t start anything. I only respond to what I see in our society. Again, maybe you should have a talk with your racist black friends about this rather than trying to pin it on me.

Your black racism ideas are ludicrous because blacks are not in positions of power and denying housing, and club memberships, etc. to whites. Blacks resenting the unbalance position whites hold in society is not racism. A desire for social justice is not racism either. Hating the system and the few that fight to keep the status quo is not the same as hating all whites.

The depth of your excuse and denial apologistism is ludicrous. You called black racism a “myth”! (or something) HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Social justice is not what they desire, that has long been achieved. And even if it weren’t, this would not justify their reverse racism. No it wouldn’t. No, it wouldn’t.
Why are you so hung up on country clubs? As if hitting a golf ball where some “right” that has been unjustly denied blacks to the point of causing them physical injury and pain. Private clubs should be permitted to include and exclude anyone they want for any reason.

You and people like you blocking justice and equal treatment based on skin color are the ones promoting racism.

This is libelous. Oh, Mr. S, I may need your services…
You/they don't want equal treatment. They already have that. They want special treatment. And you blind apologists want to provide it for them.

There are more whites that are prejudiced against blacks than there are blacks.

Unbackabler false claim. Not worth responding to. As a group, blacks are more racist that whites TODAY. Just look at this election for proof.

Who's responsible for teaching the whites to hate blacks?

Umm, I don’t know. No one? It just happens. Maybe they watch the news? Maybe they drive the streets of West Philly? Maybe they have been a victim of the rampant black crime? But we know who teaches blacks to hate whites. You do. And the HBCUs...

The black colleges were created as a counter weight to the defacto white colleges and to give blacks an educational educational opportunity they couldn't get elsewhere.

Sure. Long ago. TODAY these unnecessary holdovers from the past have become bastions of black intolerance and racism. Their mere existence existence is racist. It is time to do away with them altogether. Or at least cut all public funding.

Randal, next you'll be complaining that you aren't qualified/entitled to a free meal at a soup kitchen.

If I were shoved aside for being white and my soup were given to a black because he was black, yeah. I like soup.

Minority groups that have been and continue to be discriminated against getting jobs, education, housing, etc. CAN form groups designed primarily to raise/promote their members to an equal footing in society WITHOUT it being racism.

No they can’t. Not in America 2008. Racial advocacy /solidarity is racism. If it is when whites do it, so too is it when blacks do. Period. 90%+ of blacks voting for a fellow black Obama just and only because he and they are black IS JUST AS WRONG as if whites were to blindly vote race. Period (again). They’re both racism, doesn’t matter which color is doing it. Remember all that stuff about ‘judging a man by his character and not his color’? Nah, didn’t think so. That's just for whites, right?

If you really believe that such groups fighting racism are "racist" then you are are too prejudiced to be saved.

You’re looking pretty far gone in your pathetic apologistism. Besides, you’re fighting for a cause whose beneficiaries hate you as much as they hate me, Mr. Useful Idiot. How much sense does that make? Just because doing so makes you “feel” good?

You don't suffer from white guilt

So you are admitting to suffering from White Guilt. Good. It’s about time. Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery. The rest of us have known this about you for some time. But, umm, are you sure you’re really a man and white? Because that’s kind of hard to believe.

you have no conscience and you agree with the current and past discriminations.

not getting their fair share of the pie.

I love this. This is just another Lib lie. Btw, there is no such thing. They are neither owed nor denied anything. There is no such thing as blacks' "fair share" of anything.

Ho-hum. I could easily rip this post of yours to shreds point by point as I did with your other childish drivel offering here, Apologist Dave, but I don’t feel like it at the moment. But I will say…

Your “arguments” here blindly defending Diversity are similar to the Libs claiming the global warming debate to be “over” when it most definitely is not. And they viciously attack and attempt to silence, discredit and destroy any scientist that offers any facts or views to the contrary, no matter how innocuous, just so long as it doesn’t advance the prescribed Lib Line on the topic. Often they claim their opposition to having been “discredited” when no such thing has taken place –other than their Lib saying so.
They supplant science and truth for Lib dogma and claim the issue to be settled when it is not. They do the very same thing with racial discussions.

See how Libs abhor honest discussion and debate. We’ve seen it time and again here from Apologist Lying Lib Dave –in virtually every thread and on every topic- where he will say anything –absolutely anything- to “win”. Often this is called intellectual dishonesty but that term seems too regal for Dave. He’s just a liar. The depth of his "argument" is calling me a Nazi. Lol...

And when run out of what feeble ammo he had, he invariably resorts to ad hominine attacking his opposition. This is the surest sign of lacking confidence in one’s own position; even Dave doesn’t believe the BS he spouts.
He has shown us this level of his character and integrity and his Lib willingness to say any dishonest thing to support what he wants other to believe many times. He militantly marches to the Lib Mantra “The end justifies the means –even if those means are dishonest”.

That White Guilt is a bitch.

So much for honest debate from the Left. This is precisely why we need a new national discussion about race. Because the old one was nothing more than a dishonest lecture by Libs. And this time that discussion will not be hijacked by the Apologist Daves and turned into just more one-sided, dishonest and tired scolding of whites while continuing to give blacks a pass. If Libs are permitted to control this conversation too, we can expect no progress and just more of the same –like Dave has offered here.

I urge everyone to keep this display in mind as you read every one of Dave Diano’s posts on any topic in the future.

Nice try, Dishonest Dave. Ya can’t turn the crimes you have been convicted of many time over into a dishonest indictment of me, bud. YOU are the liar here. Everyone has witnessed and knows this. And you’re doing it again here.
Besides, in this case context and qualifiers don’t matter: In your usual blind apologist way, you excused blacks while shifting blame to whites. Pretty simple, DD.

The actual problem is Whites

Care to try again?

What exactly do you mean "their fair share of the pie"? Please explain that and be specific.

You are really starting to make me think that I have been so wrong about our existence. I mean, I always thought that you had to make you own opportunity by getting good grades in school, working hard and by not committing crimes.

I await your well reasoned response.

Stop holding them to lower expectations. That's insulting and, well, kinda racist.

Peter Puffer Diano:

Your solution: "Fair share involves spending equal amounts for education, community development, infrastructure maintenance and improvement, etc."

If you can stand the thought of living in reality for even a minute, haven't we all been paying our fair share to combat poverty. For example, it is estimated that our nation has spent trillions on the welfare system over the last thirty years, including housing, food, medicine, education, etc...

People living in Radnor, Swarthmore, Springfield, Marple, Haverford, etc.... aren't getting a piece of that pie. So what is the solution? Are you suggesting that the wealthy producers give up their wealth and spread it around equally to everyone?

Also, do you believe that there are blacks that were able to overcome their plight? I think about Colin Powell, Condi Rice, Clarence Thomas, Bill Cosby, Alan Keyes, etc... and they made it through honest hard work. Why can't more inner city blacks aspire to be a general, a Justice, or a cabinet member, an entertainer, or a scholar . . .

Also, what about the corruption that goes along with government programs? Wasn't it said by former Mayor Street that the brothers are in charge now? What do you think he meant?

Trillions of dollars spent on the welfare system has made it worse, not better. How about allowing people to keep more of their money in the workplace (translation - lower taxes), and give people incentives for achieving?

Clarence Thomas is a brilliant man, and there were "white" senators along with prominent blacks, that couldn't stand it when he said that he was able to achieve the American dream even after growing up black and poor in the south. Point in fact, he was villified for telling other blacks to follow his example. What about Condi Rice or Colin Powell? They were successful at all their endeavors. Why don't you hold out these three great individuals as an example to other blacks and minorities as proof that hard work and being good Americans is the surest path to success in our free nation?

My comment about Street was what he said publicly. I am sure that you heard it. Rizzo never made a similar statement.

Lastly, I have asked you repeatedly if there is anything at all good that the republicans have done for this country in the past. Why don't you answer?

Unlike you, ADD (Apologist Dishonest Dave), the rest of us learn from observation, unencumbered by blind Apologist Lib idiocy.

You see Thomas as a traitor because he doesn’t tow the Lib/Black line. Why don’t you just come out and call him an Uncle Tom or a house n*****? You know you want to.

John “The brothas and the sistas are running this city!” Street was corrupt …and in his case it was because he is black. The rampant racial cronyism in that city if committed by whites would rightly be called “racist” and he’d been run from office. But, thanks to apologists like you, when blacks do it they get a pass. You purveyors of the Racial Double Standard see nothing wrong with rampant black racism while continuing to weep a moan about the rare vestiges of remaining white racism.
Why do you hate your skin color so much?

April 29, 2008 at 12:36 PM

Right, Mr. S, so long as even a few blacks can overcome odds and obstacles to succeed (and many, many have) then this is proof that success lies in the level of determination of the individual and that society and schools are not the problem.
This also dovetails with that whole ‘judge a person as an individual and not their color’ stuff.
But Libs don’t want to hear this sort of talk because it runs exactly counter to their blame shifting/ get others to pay for it/ identity politics of division mantra.

Umm, well, exactly No, ADD. Try to keep up…
Ya see, John “The brothas and the sistas are running this city!” Street’s corruption was for the most part directly related to his black militancy, in part demonstrated by his ever-present racial politics and extreme racial cronyism. So, yes, his race played a big part in his corruption. Unquestionably.
But you well know all this. So once again your Apologist Libism is causing you to be disingenuous in your challenging my assertion. Or, in other words, you’re being dishonest again, lying. And that’s why we call you Dishonest Dave.

Funny how you’ll defend to the end any black –no matter how obviously racist and scumbaggie- just so long as they are black. That Blind Apologist Libism will do that to a guy. No wonder you still cling to your Black Candidate Obama.

I don't discriminate, and the mere fact that I refuse political correctness does not transform me into someone who discriminates. Get it right. Also, Rizzo never made a sport of beating up anyone as a result of the color of their skin. He went after the lawless, and he also said that his army of police could beat the Cuban Army (which did not discriminate against communist Cuban/Latinos).

Street stated VERY PUBLICLY that the City was now going to be ruled by the Brothers and the Sisters. What do you think he meant by that? I know what he said and what those words meant and it was racist and I was offended!

Dishonest Apologist skat. That’s like saying blacks having BET is just fine because all other TV networks are white. Not true. Not comparable. And motive matters.

Whites holding positions and militant black wearing their race on their sleeve and abusing their office to advance a racist agenda are hardly comparable, Apologist Dave.
That something happens to be “white” in this white majority country should be no surprise and is not evidence of any racial collusion. While blacks disproportionately helping fellow blacks along and claiming black ownership of things is, well, racism. Again, motive matters.

See, even back then that city was comprised of black racist residents standing by they brothas. They were upset that the Black Panthers (!) got raided.
Just how many white residents do you suppose would have been as upset had, say, the KKK been raided? Few. Because whites as a group don’t blindly stand with scumbags with whom they share skin color as racist blacks do.

As for your silly racist percentage question…

It depends on who’s counting and by what measure they are using. See, a radical White Guilt-ridden Apologist like you likely sees most whites as being “racist” somehow while seeing virtually no blacks as “racist”.
Me, I’d guess it’s somewhere around 10% for whites and closer to 90% for blacks. See, because I count black things as racist that you do not, like the 90% who blindly voted for their fellow black candidate, and the HBCUs and all the many exclusively “black” –by name groups and associations that don’t exist in the white world. Negro College Fund… NAACP… BET… many “black” newspapers and magazines… the purveyors of the Racial Double Standard… blacks who target whites for their crimes…

Blind racial advocacy and solidarity is racism in 2008 America. Yep. If it’s “racist” were whites to do it, then so too is it racist when blacks do.
