More on Spitzer: A Thug Goes Down

Time magazine once named him "Crusader of the Year." What he was, was a prosecutorial thug, who makes Michael "Duke Rape Case" Nifong look circumspect in comparison.

The WJS editorial page (read today's capper here) has been on to Spitzer for years. The voters of New York state paid no attention and elected him their governor.

At least, they got a titilating news cycle out of it.

UPDATE: He was worse than a hypocrite, much worse, says Roger Kimball

If you are a democrat and you get caught it is a private matter. If you are a republican and get caught it is a matter of public concern. There is a double standard here. Hillary could do alot by pulicly calling for his resignation. She won't.

Yeah, Anon, funny how that works… When a Repub gets caught with his pants down somehow the Dems with the aid of their buddies in the Media manage to turn it into an indictment of everything Republican. But when a Dem gets caught it’s a personal matter of an individual.
Kinda like blacks, that, in how when it’s something that reflects well on their group they’ll accept it with solidarity of racial pride. But when members of their group behave badly and that might reflect poorly their group as a whole, well, suddenly it’s: Judge us as individuals.

Double Standards are always ugly. Especially the contrived calculated kind.

it will be interesting to see how this is handled in the next 48 hours. of course, I was expecting to hear about a resignation last night resulting from the story.

Still not as wierd as watching McGreevey's wife stand there with an eery smile when he came out a couple of years back - she must have been on something to do that. (We never did get to the bottom of the mcgreevey situation - the "coming out" was the cover for bigger scandals)

Quite true. But LibDems rallied around him and labeled a “homophobe” anyone who wanted him indicted for his criminal abuse of office. Much as they pull out the defensive Race Card whenever a black gets caught abusing their office.
Seems one can get away with anything so long as they are a Dem and a member of one of their beloved eternal victim groups. They get held to a different, special, standard, ya know.

I'm suprised Larry craig's still in office. His situation was embarrassing, the audio interrogation was just as bad, and I believe he should have been long out of office. Same goes for Spitzer, doesn't help that today's papers are pumping his 'investment' up near six figures.

And I thought his proposal for illegals' and drivers licenses were bad...

You will find no racism in my post, Dave, rabid or otherwise. But nice try.

And it’s rather ironic that you would call someone on injecting race here when you are the most guilty of always comparing the plight of gays to that of blacks. Wouldn't you say?

Anyway, better to be labeled a racist by a rabid apologist than to be an apologist.

Diano:

Prostitution is the oldest profession. In fact, if you want to stomp out heterosexual prostitution then you need to stomp out the heterosexual drive to want sex, and promote homosexuality. At least if everyone was a "true" homosexual, they would never reproduce and would die off.

Problem solved!

Another problem solving, final solution, eh, Dave. You're like Hillary. You got a million of 'em.

Yes. That Dave supports Obama doesn’t say much for his critical thinking skills, does it?
He just backs Obama because he is black and Dave is an apologist Lib.

Christ, Dave, congrats to Obama for being against the war, but let's be honest here, UNLESS HE HAS INVENTED THE FLUX CAPACITOR AND CAN GO BACK INTO TIME, HIS OPPOSITION IN 2003 DOES US NO GOOD COME 2009. We all want military out of Iraq and home safe (there's no debate from me), but you cannot simply pull out and walk away. We would leave the country in disarray, subject to Middle East Warlords, terrorist groups, and unfit governments. In addition, abandoning the country would be a major disservice to the Iraqui citizens who need us right now, and would give us an even bigger black eye in the international scene.

It's 3am, do you want to trust an individual with no military or foreign policy experience to answer the call?

Am I the only one with common sense here?

You’re right, Dave, it is the Lib in you that backs Obama… the racial apologist Lib. If it were the Far Leftie dogma you liked, then you should have been camped with Edwards.
Judging by your own many apologist postings here, I doubt anyone was surprised to see you jump on the Black Candidate bandwagon, as all of your fellow guilt-ridden apologists have.
Obama is a hollow candidate and, just as Ms. Ferraro so truthfully said the other day, he’s only enjoyed the attention and success he has because he is black. Were he a white with such a thin resume, lame Lib ideals and stupid and simplistic trail platitudes, he would not be where he is now. Period.
He’s a novelty candidate to some while the long awaited Black Coming for others. I think we all know which he is to you.

I'm not going to get into raceon this one, personally, I'm sick of seeing EVERYONE walk on pins and needles so no offends Barack for anything muslim or african american-related.

I'm more interested in true qualifications and experience. Otherwise, I might as well close my eyes and cast my vote for Alfred E. Newman.
