Keith Crego Solicitored

My Wednesday print column is up. Keith Crego is back in the news.

Here's a taste:

"Word out of the courthouse is that former Penn-Delco School Board president Keith Crego, who is awaiting trial on charges of bribery, forgery, theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, several counts of violating the state Ethics Act, felony drug offenses and two counts of racketeering, is looking to cut a deal.

Given that if convicted of all the charges against him he’s looking at a couple of hundred years in jail, that is understandable.

Why shouldn’t he see what the D.A. has to offer?

What isn’t understandable, however, is Crego’s recent clumsy effort to smear district Business Administrator John Steffy, in the eyes of Penn-Delco’s new Solicitor Mike Levin."

Click back to "Opinion" on Delcotimes.com for the whole thing.

I think the only reason Crego is trying to smear Steffy's name is because he blames him for blowing the whistle on his little empire.
I personally think he has been on this blog before trying to intimidate other people so they wouldn't testify against him if this matter got to court. If he did ask to take this to trial I think that would be a foolish move on his part, it would do nothing but get him more time in jail in the end. As long as this investigation took I would hope they have some strong evidence gathered to make a good case against him. There are also the people that made it part of their deal to testify against him. This guy doesn’t stand a chance in a court room.

I want to know what happens to Aburtyn's plea bargain to testify against Crego if he pleads out? Does she then get resentenced? Is her deal with the DA thrown out the window?? After Cregos arrest again today he can be assured of jail time. What was this man thinking??It will be real interesting watching the outcome of this circus. The people of Penn-Delco just can't catch a break. Wonder what this man's lawyer thinks??

Nothing gets thrown out the windown. Nothing happens to Abrutyn's plea bargain. That's why the call it a bargain.

Think about it.

Her admissions and agreeing to testify against Crego puts pressure on him to plead guilty to some or all of the charges against him.

If he does, it could be said the deal with Abrutyn encouraged him to do so.

Question!!!
And what if he doesn't plead guilty and goes to trial will her BARGAIN remain a BARGAIN. She will then testify against him and this will help convict him. As far as I am concerned having followed this in the paper she got off with a slap on the wrist. And a slap in the face to the people she supposedly served.

What I would like to know is how is the school board ever going to heal and get back to business if you keep pumping for and printing board business that your slimy source (Hm, wonder who that could be? Maybe he should start minding his own BUSINESS) keeps giving you.

And what business did the lawyer have corresponding with Crego anyway? Sure hope the board authorized him to do that and to make comments to you about it.

Gil, you have used the sad Penn Delco saga as an opportunity to juice up your own career. Many of us in Penn Delco wish you would just go away. And stay away.

In answer to the previous post!!!. If it were not for the articles of Mr. Spencer and the articles in the Daily Times the people of Penn-Delco and the rest of the county would have never known what took place in that school district. So if any one should just go away maybe it is you with your head stuck in the sand. If it wasn't for the people who stood up at meetings and demanded answers from a board who did not want to give any answers to questions asked by the public. It is way past time that all those who serve the public in office whether it be a school district or a county council or a board of town council elected officials start to realize that they are all accountable to the public for their decisions and actions while serving in an elected capacity. It is time that the people become responsible for their communities and keep a watchful eye on the elected officials. The days of trusting those elected to serve your best interest have all but faded away. What's that old saying when no one watches the hen house someone sneaks in and steals all the eggs. Or when the cat's away the mice will play. Get involved find out where your tax dollars are being spent. If not you have no right to complain when you find out that things have not been properly done in the name of the taxpayer.

Hey Gil,
Why do you keep downplaying Steffy’s involvement with the insurance plan? This Crego’s no angel, but that doesn’t mean responsibility shouldn’t be spread out fairly. Why don’t you want that to happen? When you take down a gang, you take everyone down. (Remember Enron?) Steffy obviously would have had involvement as head of business for the school and signed himself up for the insurance plan to boot. He wouldn’t have done that if it was such a rip off to the school, right? I heard he even hired an outside specialist law firm to do legal work on this thing. Is that true? If so, why haven’t you told us that?

Wait a minute...this poster says John Steffy, Penn Delco business manager hired an outside legal firm to handle the split dollar insurance deal? The one Gil keeps intimating was Mark Sereni's fault? Are you kidding me? So Gil, what's the scoop?

gee whiz, wildone surely has an axe to grind with Mr. Steffy. Really concerned, and not in a neighborly way. Take a rest, please.

Anonymous, you can try to protect Steffy all you want, but it's not very effective unless you can actually defend him. Get it?

Something definitely stinks here. And I have noticed Gil never deigns to respond when he gets busted.

Everyone in Penn-Delco knows just how much the new board president wants his CEO to dissappear there may be a few more people who want him to gone also. Could it be he knows way too much for them ALL!!! It is pitifull the harassment that they are causing this man for what???All because they think they are seeking TRUTH and JUSTICE. Well I would be seeking a lawsuit against this board and some of it's presiding members for unlawful harrassment. Maybe they already have one of their political lackeys lined up to take the CEO'S job. Now that would just be the icing on the cake and show the people just who is really in charge.

Yo Anonymous -

Nice try.

I think you mean the CFO, not the CEO. The CFO is John Steffy. Try to get straight the guy you're trying to protect.

Why are you trying so hard to protect Steffy that you have to slander other people to do it?

The new board president wasn't even on the board when Steffy and Crego were on.

Since you seem to know Steffy so well, is it true Steffy played a lot of poker with Crego and partied in Vegas with him while they were on the board together? Is it true that Steffy knew about some of Crego's so-called shenigans but turned a blind eye to them? Is it true that Steffy just bought two franchise stores, even though he's supposed to be a top administrator and full-time district employee?

Please tell.

What I'd like to know is the reason this "anonymous" has such a bullseye on John Steffy (as well as others on his personal internet hit list). At first I thought it was pathological (and it surely is), but now I believe there's a fair amount of flat-out fear. Perhaps Mr. Steffy (and your other targets) know a bit too much for your comfort? You sure know a lot of personal info!

And speaking of full-time jobs, this particular "anonymous" seems to have a lot of time on its hands, hmmm? Posting the same poisonous screed constantly on this blog and other community boards seems to be quite the little full-time job, or maybe your own cottage industry?

Why don't you answer these questions about Steffy, rather than blindly protecting him and attacking others who question him?

Can you handle the truth?

Gil only knows John Steffy for a short time. Most of the people responding know Steffy for years. People I have talked to who know John personally say John's an ________. Others who worked with or under Steffy know he's an _________.

So please, the people who only know John for a short time, stay out of this. We want Steffy out of this school district. He abused his authority.

Well, well. Do you see how much the DCIU, Commissioners and high ranking politicians are involved with how the district is runned. They can just do and get away with what ever they want because of their political link and that's why Keith, Leslie, Debbie and Steffy stuck it up their employees and residence _____.

No one paid any attention to what I had to say in the beginning, thought they had everything under control and now they were kicked in the _____.
Did you notice the $5,000 donation to the DCIU from Verizon in today’s paper. They could of waited a week to put it in the paper instead of putting it in the paper the same day of Keith’s light sentence. There they go again flexing their muscle. So many politicians reputations would of be tainted. They were not going to allow that.

Residence, you have a big fight ahead of you. They will try to wear you out. They are like roaches infiltrated throughout the whole system. Don't give up, you still have the backing of other residence and hopefully more will get involved, now that Keith and Leslie got a light sentence.

It seems to me that as long as the majority of residence continue to slumber and not support and attend the school board meetings, nothing will ever be solved.
