Changing Lane

WHAT? We won't have Alycia Lane to kick around anymore?

This is awful.

Management says:

“After assessing the overall impact of a series of incidents resulting from judgments she has made, we have concluded that it would be impossible for Alycia to continue to report the news as she, herself, has become the focus of so many news stories."

Why the hell not? What's one have to do with the other? Katie Couric is the focus of "many news stories." Oh, I see. Not ones where she is accused of punching a female cop in the face and calling her a "dyke."

Still. I didn't know squat about Lane until I read about her hijinks in New York. I'd be more likely to watch her do the news now than ever. But I guess that's why I'll never be in management.

This was clever though.

“We wish to make clear that we are not prejudging the outcome of the criminal case against Alycia that is pending in New York," said KWY-TV station manager Michael Colleran in a statement. “We understand that Alycia expects to be fully vindicated in that proceeding. We hope that is the case and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors."

No sense in giving her lawyers extra meat to chew on.

At least they'll be saving her $700,000 a year salary. For the time being.

She lost her job because of the "dyke" slur. The gay-loving PC police couldn't permit that to go unpunished. Much as they got all worked up over Imus' silly words.

Here's a story for you, Gil. Word on the Street in Media is that Frank Daly appointed someone other than Pete Alyanakian to Chair the Borough's Environmental Advisory Council, a position Pete has held for some time and has worked hard to transform the Borough into a prominent Green Municipality not only in the Delaware Valley but in the Commonwealth.

Gee, was Daly merely giving someone else an opportunity at the position or is he playing political chess due to the fact that residents are recognizing the Republicans for being the enviromental leaders in the Borough?

This may be the best thing that ever happened to her. Now that she got fired, she'll sue the TV Station and probably get a job on Inside Edition or some other non-sense show making even more money.

Wait a second Steve, Did Frank Daly appoint Alycia Lane?

If not, why bring it up here?

Not complaining. Just asking.

Knowing what a partisan Daly is, I'm gonna have to go with B) he playing political chess due to the fact that residents are recognizing the Republicans for being the enviromental leaders
Certainly such a LibDem partisan as he is not judge material.

Gil,

I see no other way of contacting you on short notice. Couldn't find an email address, so I consider a blog comment the next best thing, even if its about our favorite deposed CBS anchor. By the way, anyone want to lay bets on John Bolaris' next 'storm of the century' screw-up?

I can't confirm whether or not Daly called Alyanakian a F%&*ing Dy&e.
