A Free To Carry Zone

The New Life Church in Colorado is not a "gun-free zone" and it's a good thing too.

UPDATE: Here's a darn good account of the attack.

Money Q:

Bourbonnais yelled at the gunman to draw his attention, he said.

"First, I called him 'Coward' then I called him 'S---head' " Bourbonnais said. "I probably shouldn't have been saying that in church."

That's when the shooter pointed one of his guns at Bourbonnais and fired, he said.

Bourbonnais ducked behind a hollow, decorative pillar and was hit in the arm by a bullet and fragments of the pillar.

At about that moment, a female guard with a drawn handgun turned a corner and walked toward the gunman and yelled "Surrender!" Bourbonnais said.

The gunman pointed a handgun at the woman and fired three shots, Bourbonnais said. She returned fire and just kept walking toward the gunman pressing off round after round.

The female guard fired off about a dozen shots.

After the gunman went down, Bourbonnais asked the woman, who has only been identified as a volunteer security guard with the church, how she remained so calm and focused.

Bourbonnais said she replied:

"I was asking the Holy Spirit to guide me the entire time."

Wow!

What a great thing, and the drive by media has largely ignored this story. I have been saying this for years. Armed civilians are the greatest deterrent to an armed crazed killer. God Bless that woman!

I have had my LTC permit since Silvia Seagrest entered Springfield Mall. I was in that mall a week earlier with my young children.

I carry every where I go. The mall, church, Wawa, you never know. Unlike Governor Rendell, I don't have an armed security detail. I find it very interesting that he wants to limit my gun rights (in his second term) under the guise of fighting crime. Someone should tell him that his laws mean nothing to people who are murdering and shooting each other over drugs or during robberies. The only people that his laws will effect are the people who obey laws.

I represent the National Rifle Association in the case filed by the Phila City Council against the General Assembly. In this case, City Council, knowing that the General Assembly will not grant Phila the right to regulate guns, City Council has nonetheless requested that a Judge do an end run on the General Assembly and rule that Phila can pass its own gun control. The NRA hired me to make the constitutional argument that the right to bear arms in PA is an individual right that can not be legislated away. We will win this case, but it shows the arrogance of these Phila politicians who obviously can not control their crime problem. To them it is about gun control, and not criminal control. Philadelphia will forever blame the guns and not its own revolving door justice and the fact that they have tens of thousands of outstanding warrants that they refuse to serve. I say give all of the drug dealers and other low life criminals proper training in marksmanship so that they do a better job of killing each other, as it is the bad guys that account for many of the gun deaths already. We can do more to make sure that more of them leave this earth.

How did Guiliani reduce violent crime so much in New York without repealing the second amendment? Apparently, Mayor Street thinks that's the only way to do it.

So long as the Philly murder rate remains 75% thug-on-thug I am 75% fine with it.
So it's not so bad, kind of cleansing actually.
See, it's all in how you look at a problem.
