Surely, She Isn't Serious

Oh, yes she is.
And go ahead, call her Shirley.

Small bands of gun-fearing Liberals in positions of power should not be permitted to dictate to others how they can and cannot protect themselves. We saw what such misguided and shortsighted emotional Liberalism did to Virginia Tech where their gun ban prevented people from intervening and directly contributed to the body count. The Lib administrators of that school who enacted the ban should be charged as accessories to murder.

Liberalism can be deadly.

Liberalism is always deadly. Whether it is taking our guns away, promoting homosexuality, or limiting free speech is killing us all.

Is that the vector where we are heading?

I carry a concealed pistol everywhere I go and no one ever knows I have it. To Wawa, to church, picking my kids up from school, you name it, I'm packing. I've had my permit to carry for 12 years. I've never pulled my gun out, never shot anyone, never robbed anyone, never got into a road rage incident. It's just there in case someone wants to interfere with my life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness by jeopardizing my life, my family's life or those around me. It's just a tool that has a specific job, a lawful purpose. I practice regularly with my pistol and I am very proficient. I have attended several training programs to make me a better shooter and I resent the idea that anyone would deny me the right to choose whether or not I want to carry a tool to defend myself should the need to defend myself arise.

Good man, E. And everyone in your immediate vicinity is safer for your packing. Even the Libs who would deny you that right.

Thank you randal. The only point I disagree with this teacher on is her making such a public spectacle of the whole thing. I don't think that all teachers should be armed, like it's a job requirement. I do think however that a teacher should not be denied one of her inalienable rights by a policy. In my opinion, if she really felt threatened or worried about a Columbine type incident, she should have quietly carried a concealed pistol, regardless of school policy, as long as she is not violating any law. Who cares if you get fired after you prevent a tragedy? At least you are alive to fight to get your job back. What good is it if you are dead, but you didn't get fired for violating a policy?

Hooray for her making a public statement about this issue. Our children are not safe in gun free school zones! By the way, it is the media that is making her the spectacle.

PS - all law abiding citizens should be REQUIRED to carry a gun.

I disagree with that also. Some people do not feel comfortable around guns. Some people hate guns. No one should be forced to carry a gun in the United States of America, no more than you should be forced to go to church because we have freedom of religion. However, school policy should not forbid an American citizen from lawfully and discreetly carrying a concealed firearm, anymore than they could forbid someone from quietly bowing their head, closing their eyes and whispering a prayer to themselves and God before eating their lunch.
