Politics of Personal Destruction for Thee

WaPo's Richard Cohen, a man of the left, takes the leading Democratic presidential candidate to the woodshed for not blasting the MoveOn.org "Betray Us" ad.

Money Q:

"The MoveOn.org ad was the moment for Clinton to rise above hackdom. It was a moment for her to insist that the business of politics, not to mention governing, is made even uglier and more difficult when people who merely differ with one another resort to insult. It was a moment for her to say that an Army general, under orders and attempting to fulfill a mission, should not be so casually trashed -- especially since she herself has been on the other side of the Iraq War issue and said things she must now regret."

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Congress mandate that General Petraeus and the US Ambassador to Iraq deliver a report by September 15, 2007 detailing their assessment of the military, economic and political situation of Iraq, when they voted to fund the war back in May?

I believe he was there because Congress ordered it, not because the President sent him there.

Why are you always so concerned about what I’ll say, Dave? ;)

People are waiting for something that is just not going to come from the Left until we demand it. Why on earth would they condemn the ugly acts and words of a radical group like MoveOn when they themselves have cultivated this climate of ugly, angry, cheap attack politics that we find ourselves living in? They have destroyed the unity our country enjoyed post 9/11 and engineered our present divide for their political exploitation. Besides, the Dems are beholden to these radical Libs for the power they presently hold. They’re not likely to bite the filthy hand that feeds them until they are forced to do so.

The good news is that this incident was so over the top that it has caused decent people to take notice and condemn these LibDem tactics. People are sick of the Left’s vicious partisanship, obstruction, treason and cheap attacks. Everyone talks about political reconciliation in Iraq, well, we need some of that here. And it will only start once offensive Liberal groups like MoveOn are moved back to the far out fridge where they belong and removed from the discussions.
